When doing my research on vitamin companies I made plenty of phone calls and sent several emails every week. One question I asked was, 'does your product contain any GMO's'? The ascorbic acid form of Vitamin C can be derived from GMO corn. This was a factor I had to know. Most companies use ascorbic acid because it is the most studied and most common form used in supplements. So when I inquired from many companies they either told me they didn’t know or they said yes it was derived from corn but was not sure if it was GMO. Some vitamin companies even said ‘we will get back with you’ but never did. Youngevity however did get back with me after going through some hoops. Steve Wallach, CEO from Youngevity did get back with me quickly and stated that the ascorbic acid Youngevity uses is derived from a Sago Palm extract a high quality, highly absorbable, non-GMO form. In my research this is form only used by a handful high quality companies. This was great news since I already knew some of the other vitamins in the ‘Beyond Tangy Tangerine’ were from natural forms like the Vitamin E. The vitamin B-12 is also from the methelcobaloman form which is also the premium form used in B12 injections. The original ‘Beyond Tangy Tangerine’ also had Maltodextrin in it which I found out derived from non-GMO brown rice. Thank God it too was not derived from corn which a lot of companies unfortunately use and add to processed foods. In 2014 Clemson University did a study on the Original 'Beyond Tangy Tangerine' and the 'Ultimate Classic'. The results of the BTT it was discovered to reduce 60% colon cancer cells, 65% liver and stomach cells, and 30% reduction in breast cancer cells. It is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients no other supplement contains. It is 3rd party verified it does not skimp on dosages. It has some of the highest amounts of vitamin values I have ever found. One thing that blew me away was how they made it. It is not a powder but a freeze dried nutri-crystal that prevents degrading like a certain powder formulas would. No refrigeration is required to keep the nutrients stable.
The only essential nutrients missing are the Essential Fatty acids Omega 3,6-9 which would oxidize if they were included in this formula. So if you add the EFA Plus from Youngevity you complete the 90 essential nutrients. The only problem with other companies EFA’s (Essential Fatty Acids) is the fact that only a very few companies nitrogen flush the gel caps before injecting the fish oil in the capsule. By nitrogen flushing gel caps this will prevent the Fish Oil and other essential oils from oxidizing. Nordic Naturals and Youngevity are the only 2 companies I know for sure that use nitrogen flushing. I have emailed countless companies that are well known that have said they do not use this system. I am sure there are others but I just don’t know who they are. Fish Oil and essential fatty acids from flax seed are very unstable and will oxidize quickly when exposed to oxygen. Be aware that even though Omega 3,6-9 are essential they can be dangerous when rancid and oxidized.
